Terms of service
About us
4chordsStudios is a trading name of Paul Smith trading as 4chordsStudios ("we", "us"), a UK-based sole trader. Contact: [email protected].
Agreement
By using 4chords.studio or any of our mobile apps and plugins ("Services"), you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Services.
Eligibility
You must be at least 13 to use any account-based feature. Users under 18 should review these Terms with a parent or guardian.
Accounts
You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure. You agree to provide accurate information and to notify us of any unauthorised use.
Subscriptions and billing
- Mobile-app subscriptions are billed monthly in advance via Apple App Store or Google Play, in £ GBP. Plans: £0.99/month per app or £4.99/month for the all-apps bundle. A 7-day free trial precedes first billing for new subscribers. You can cancel at any time and your subscription continues until the end of the current paid period.
- Plugin licences (desktop AU and VST3) are sold via Stripe at three options: £0.99/month subscription, £9.99/year subscription, or £199 one-time lifetime purchase. Monthly and annual plans include a 7-day free trial. Lifetime is a one-off purchase that grants a perpetual licence to use all current and future plugins in the SUS4 bundle for the lifetime of the product line.
- We do not refund part-periods of active subscriptions (see Refund Policy). Lifetime purchases are subject to the digital-content cooling-off rules described in the Refund Policy.
Studio bookings
Studio bookings at the 4chords physical premises are subject to a separate written agreement signed by both parties. These Terms govern only digital Services unless explicitly extended.
Acceptable use
You may not (a) attempt to reverse-engineer or redistribute our Services, (b) use the Services to infringe the rights of others, (c) introduce malware, or (d) use the Services in breach of applicable law.
Your content
You retain ownership of any audio, lyrics, or other creative content you upload. By using our Services you grant us a limited, non-exclusive licence to process that content solely for the purpose of providing the Service to you (e.g. on-device analysis). We do not sell your content, train models on it without explicit consent, or share it with third parties for advertising.
Our content
All Service software, designs, copy, branding, and audio assets are owned by us or our licensors and protected by UK and international copyright. The "4chordsStudios" name and SUS4 product names are our unregistered trade marks.
Updates
We may update the Services at any time. We will give reasonable notice of changes that materially reduce functionality you paid for, and offer a pro-rata refund if the change makes the Service unfit for purpose.
Termination
You can stop using the Services at any time. We can suspend or terminate your access for serious breach of these Terms, giving reasonable notice except in cases of abuse or unlawful conduct.
Liability
Nothing in these Terms excludes liability for death, personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, or any other liability which cannot be excluded by law. Subject to that, our aggregate liability arising out of or in connection with the Services is limited to the total fees you paid us in the twelve months preceding the event giving rise to the claim. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of profits, or loss of data, except where such limitation is not permitted by law.
Consumer rights
If you are a consumer in the UK or the EU, nothing in these Terms affects your statutory rights, including your right to cancel digital content under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013. See our Refund Policy for the cooling-off process and the waiver applied at trial start.
Privacy
Our Privacy Policy at /privacy explains how we process your personal data. It forms part of these Terms.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales, except that consumers in Scotland or Northern Ireland retain the right to bring proceedings in their local courts.
