SUS4 Chord ID
Play a chord into the mic and see its name.
SUS4 Chord ID listens through the microphone and names the chord you are playing. Play a chord on guitar, piano or another instrument and the app shows its best match with two alternatives, covering major, minor, diminished, augmented, sus2, sus4 and power chords, plus major, minor and dominant sevenths.
It works on iPhone, iPad and Mac. It is particularly useful if you are playing by ear and have landed on something you like but cannot name, or if you are transcribing a track and want to confirm what you are hearing. You can also tap notes on the built-in keyboard, see the individual notes it hears in the Detective tab, or test your ear with timed chord challenges.
Saved chords go into a history you can annotate, and the Voicings tab shows common guitar shapes or plays any chord you type, so you can hear it before you finger it. On Apple Watch, the chords you identify on your iPhone appear on your wrist; tap one to hear it played back.
